Destination weddings on the increase in Guernsey

The BBC has reported that Guernsey has seen a rise in couples from outside the island choosing the Bailiwick as their wedding destination.

New marriage regulations that came into force in 2021, allowing weddings to legally take place anywhere on the island when conducted by a registered celebrant, have helped contribute to an increase in couples selecting the Islands of Guernsey as their wedding destination.

The BBC has reported that in 2021, there were 23 weddings for non-residents, compared to 38 so far in 2024, according to the Royal Court of Guernsey.

The change in regulations means that couples can now tie the knot at our beaches, cliff tops, and historic castles, at any time of day or night.
