VisitGuernsey is driving more traffic than ever to its website – and on to your businesses.
We are generating more interest in the Islands via our marketing activity. Year to date, compared to last year, VisitGuernsey website visits up 14%, and partner referrals up 21%.
Despite this positive trend, and increased air and ferry passenger movements, (view numbers here) it is apparent that challenges remain within the sector.
Occupancy for May 2025 is in and, while higher than April, it is level with May 2024 at 74%, when excluding long stay guests (view report here) . This is despite a bumper week for accommodation providers around Liberation Day and the half term break at the end of the month. August in particular is still a concern for some, and we would encourage anyone who has not already done so, to send in any summer special offers they have to Jo.Dyer@gov.gg. Year to date, the offers page has had 60,000 views, second only to the home page.
We are grateful to the 85 accommodation providers who responded, representing 80% of all open accommodation units in Guernsey.
We are working with industry groups to investigate why collectively the increased interest isn’t converting into bookings for some. Late air and ferry schedules coming into 2025 is one relevant factor and through discussion with carrier and industry partners we expect schedules for 2026 to be released much earlier. But there are a mix of factors impacting these trends. If you have views or comments, we would welcome those as we continue working together to maximise the sector’s successes.
