Spring Walking Festival 2021

Organisers of the Spring Walking Festival are hoping the local community will continue to support the event, ahead of visitors being able to return to the Islands.

19 May 2021

This Saturday (22 May), the Spring Walking Festival returns for two weeks of more than 40 easy rambles, longer strolls and challenging routes across Guernsey, Lihou, Herm and Sark.

Participants can choose from coastal, inland and town options. Led by the expertise of accredited Gold and Silver guides, keen walkers can take part in morning, afternoon, evening and all-day excursions to explore the culture, heritage, nature and scenery of all four islands.

It’s the perfect opportunity to re-discover parts of the Bailiwick, find new places that you might not have visited before or learn more about the history of the islands.

COVID-19 has disrupted the Walking Festival for the past 12 months, but Carla Bauer, Festival co-organiser, said she was thrilled with the response from locals, particularly during the 2020 Autumn Walking Festival which, despite poor weather, saw the largest participants to date for the Festival.

481 local residents put their walking boots on and joined in walks during the 2020 Autumn Walking Festival, which also raised more than £750 for local charities of the Guides choice.

‘We are, of course, looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the Island to take part in the Festival, but we have been delighted with the take up from the local community.

‘Islanders have really seized the opportunity to take part and find out more about the Bailiwick. We are so thankful for their enthusiasm and look forward to seeing them again no our walk this year.’

Momentum is already growing for the Spring Walking Festival with some of the walks already close to capacity.

Booking is advised to avoid disappointment, and guarantee your place, as tours have limited numbers. Please contact the Guide of your walk.
