Liberation 80

As preparations for this year’s 80^th anniversary of the Islands’ Liberation continue we are sharing a suite of creative assets and copy that you can download and use for free, to help promote the events and activities taking place on and around Friday 9 May, along with those that extend throughout the year.

We know Liberation Day weekend is already looking very busy for accommodation providers. If you are organising a new event or activity this year that centres around our Occupation/Liberation story, please send us the details and we can include in the promotion we are doing via our marketing campaigns, PR outreach and direct consumer communications.

We would encourage you to share the artwork with your visitors via direct communication, emailers and your social media channels. We have also drafted some generic copy about the Occupation / Liberation – one with more background which would be more suited to an off-Island audience.

This year’s milestone anniversary will see the main focus of activity return to St Peter Port. Preparations are also well underway in parish communities across the Island, ensuring a truly island-wide Liberation Day celebration across the May weekend.

For 2025, the Cavalcade, made up of vehicles and motorbikes from the Guernsey Military Vehicle Group, classic cars from the Old Car Club and tractors, will include floats and up to an additional 100 visiting military vehicles.
