2023 Cruise Developments for The Islands of Guernsey

With 95 cruise ships scheduled to visit during the season of 2023, and 12 new cruise ships making their inaugural visit to Guernsey, 2023 is expected to be an exciting year with key developments for the Islands’ cruise industry. With a strategy to see more premium ships being welcomed to Guernsey, its significant to see Silversea due to visit five times this season.

10 April 2023

With the season commencing on Saturday 15th April, with the arrival of MS Hamburg and extending until the last call on 22nd October from MSC’s Euribia, the total potential disembarking passenger numbers will be 147,260, marking an increase on the 2022 numbers.

As part of the investment in the cruise sector a familiarisation trip is being hosted by The Islands of Guernsey in April 2023, which will focus on showcasing the shore excursion product, wider destination offering and disembarkation process to luxury cruise brands.

Five representatives from luxury lines Silversea Cruises, SAGA Cruises, Ponant, Explora Journeys and Seadream Yacht Club will be attending with the focus of the trip highlighting the personalised and tailored shore excursion experiences on offer for discerning passengers visiting from smaller ships.

The fam, which will run from the 11th – 14th April will highlight Guernsey’s unique attributes and will include visits to the historic German Underground Hospital – which bears witness to Guernsey’s years under Occupation in WWII - and the chance to sample Guernsey’s sustainable Rocquette Cider. In addition, delegates will explore Guernsey’s dramatic coastal scenery with a walk along the South Coast cliffs affording incredible views out to sea.

Accompanied by Amanda Johns, Cruise Business Development Consultant for CruiseGuernsey, the fam trip will also provide an opportunity for the CruiseGuernsey team to share forthcoming infrastructure developments and remind delegates of the fantastic arrivals procedure that includes free Wi-Fi, a dedicated arrivals area and Welcome Team at the Albert Pier.
