Inter-island travel options

With the announcement of different ferry operators in Guernsey and Jersey, concerns have been raised about the connectivity of the islands: but there continue to be a number of ways to travel between the two.

09 December 2024

Currently, Brittany Ferries’ 2025 schedule includes a weekly service between Jersey and Guernsey. We are expecting DFDS’s 2025 schedule in the next two weeks. Discussions are ongoing with both operators to support inter-island travel.

Other than the primary ferry service, there are several other ways to travel between Guernsey and Jersey, with the flexibility to book outward and return journeys separately. All of these services add resilience to this important island link.

Blue Islands

Blue Islands offer up to six inter-island flights per day (three each way), including midday services from Monday-Friday.

The airline’s inter-island fares also include free changes (to another day) up to three hours before departure (fare difference may apply) as well as on-the-day flexibility if you want to move to an earlier or later inter-island flight. These changes are free of charge.

Out the Blue

Operating day trips to Jersey from St Peter Port harbour, Out the Blue operates a spacious catamaran with inside and outside seating, plus an on-deck toilet. Scheduled trips have been announced for every Saturday from 24 May to 6 September 2025.

Manche Iles Express

Operating during peak months (April-September), Manche Iles operate vessels with a capacity of up to 245 passengers. 20 inter-island trips have been confirmed for 2025 so far.

Iris Freight (CI) Ltd

Operating between Jersey and Guernsey once a day, 364 days a year, Iris Freight provides foot passengers with early morning transport between the islands, with no limit on baggage size or restrictions.

Departures are early from both islands; from Jersey to Guernsey at 3am, and Guernsey to Jersey at 6.30am (arriving in Jersey at 9am).

Islands Unlimited

Islands Unlimited provide a customer-friendly, competitively priced service between the islands, including daytrip packages to and from Guernsey, Jersey, and Sark.

Two 2025 sailings have been announced so far (both in May) with more expected to follow.

Access Challenger (Guernsey Boat Charter)

Specialising in flexible travel options, Guernsey Boat Charters allow customers to travel between Jersey, Guernsey, and the rest of the Bailiwick (including day trips and overnight options) without the restriction of timetables and schedules.
