Screening of the State Funeral at Saumarez Park

As Guernsey continues to observe the Period of Mourning following the Death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, events will be held on Saturday 17 September and on the day of the State Funeral, Monday 19 September.

On Monday 19 September, islanders and visitors are invited to Saumarez Park where a large screen will be installed for the broadcast of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Coverage will begin from 10am, leading up to the State Funeral which is scheduled to begin at 11am.

Provision has also been made for seating for as many as 2,000 people, and it will be prioritised for those who need it.  There will also be a large space where people can bring blankets and rugs to view the screening of the State Funeral. 

If they would like to travel to the park by bus, they can take routes 41 and 42, please be advised there is a reduced Bank Holiday service running on Monday.

The café at Saumarez Park will be open on the day and have pledged to give 20% of proceeds to the Guernsey branch of the Royal British Legion. Volunteers from the Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association will also be on hand in the park offering a limited supply of teas and coffees. Donations will also be welcomed for the Guernsey branch of the Royal British Legion.

Those attending are reminded that the State Funeral is an occasion to mourn the death of Her Majesty and they are asked to dress appropriately and to be respectful of other mourners. 

A special Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Town Church, on Saturday 17 September at 11.30am. Islanders and visitors are invited to attend the service at the Town Church.  In addition, the service will be livestreamed on the States of Guernsey Facebook page.
