Looking forward to the start of 2024 cruise season

With 83 cruise ships scheduled to visit the islands of Guernsey during the season, and 9 new cruise ships making their inaugural visit to Guernsey, 2024 is set to be another exciting year.

05 April 2024

This Sunday, we will be welcoming the Hanseatic Nature as the first cruise ship of the season. A regular visitor to Guernsey, carrying up to 230 passengers.

Closely followed by Silversea’s Silver Endeavour on Monday carrying 200 passengers.

During 2023, 63 cruise ships visited the Islands, with 12 first time visits. 79,672 passengers came ashore, representing 82% of those onboard, considerably higher than the average which, anecdotally from the cruise industry, is 60-70%.

Work continues through ongoing conversations with operators of both big and small ships to not only retain the ships we have, but also reach out to new business.

Next week, our CruiseGuernsey representatives, Amanda Johns (Cruise Business Development) and Mark Renouf (Cruise and Surveys Operations, Guernsey Ports) will be attending the Seatrade Global exhibition. This is the leading cruise event to network and meet with influential decision makers.

In addition:

  • We remain members of CruiseBritain, attending their meetings throughout the year
  • Next week we welcome an agent from Excursions to find out more about what to do when passengers are here on Island
  • There is a cruise familiarisation trip planned for May
  • Quarterly mailer to database of cruise contacts
  • Plaque presentations & hospitality desk organisation
  • Advertising campaign with Cruise & Ferry review
  • Pitching the Islands of Guernsey to Cruise Critic
