Castle Cornet will open its doors with a special event on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 May.
‘Back In Time For The Weekend’ will take place from 10:00-16:00 each day, and it is hoped the event will appeal to new and regular visitors.
Jo Dowding, Access & Learning Manager for Guernsey Museums, said:
“We would like to reach out to people who perhaps haven’t visited the Castle before, or haven’t been since school. There are four museums to explore, our restored castle gardens, exceptional views and of course the extra activities for this celebratory weekend.”
Living History will be provided each day at 12:15 from the Guernsey History In Action Company. There will be castle trails for families and a craft room with historically-themed activities for everyone. The weekend will feature daily Castle tours at 10:30 with extra tours in the afternoon if there is demand. Staff from Guille-Allès Library will be providing storytelling on both days and there will be a chance to discover more about the beautiful gardens with La Société.
The noon day gun will be fired each day and the café will also be open serving drinks, snacks and light lunches.
The best value ticket is the Discovery Pass, which lasts 12 months from purchase and offers free entry to the Castle, Guernsey Museum at Candie, Fort Grey and the German Naval Signals HQ. The cost is £20 and accompanying children go free.
A timetable will be added from 26 April at http://museums.gov.gg/backintime.
