Destination of the Decade

The Islands of Guernsey secured their place at #2 ahead of the likes of Jamaica, Costa Rica and other destinations such as Greek islands and Indonesian archipelagos.

There is no question that our beautiful Island home deserves a top spot as a timeless classic, but it’s our new tourism initiatives, rebrand and five-island experience that has ensured the Islands of Guernsey are a firm favourite.

This national coverage is the direct result of the proactive efforts of the VisitGuernsey trade and media team, together with the brand development and marketing campaigns of the full VisitGuernsey team. Wendy Pedder, Marketing Manager said ‘We proactively pitch feature and editorial proposals to the UK mainstream and travel press and media. As a result of the team’s pitch last year, The Sunday Times included the content provided in this Best Holiday Destinations for 2020 feature.’

Guernsey also secured a place on Cosmopolitan’s ‘Best holiday destinations for your 2020 travels’, overtaking other tropical islands like Cyprus, Kefalonia and Ithaca. Featuring its brilliant dining scene, stunning beaches, rugged cliffs and lively harbour town.

Across the pond in Canada, whimsy, charm, magic and wonder were all phrases used to describe our Island by Travel and Style writer Jennifer Weatherhead Harrington. With just over 10,000 unique visitors per month (UVM), this article gives fantastic coverage to a variety of local industry partners, our fascinating heritage and plenty of ideas for visitors.

And by no means least, Guernsey featured in the January/February edition of the US based Westways magazine.
