French day tripper scheme update

Following the introduction of the French day tripper scheme earlier this year, we have already welcomed over 1,000 day visitors to Guernsey this year.

06 July 2023

The Committee for Home Affairs introduced the short stay scheme for French nationals which allows them to visit the Island on day trips using only a national identity card this summer.  Prior to Brexit, visitors could enter the Island using a carte d’identité but, following the UK's departure from the EU, anyone arriving into the Channel Islands are now required to show a passport.

Since the introduction of the day trip scheme on Wednesday 26th April, we have welcomed 1,126 visitors on day trips with Condor Ferries and Manches Iles Express. The scheme runs until Saturday 30th September 2023.
