Putting the Islands of Guernsey on the map with a series of virtual tours

The Islands of Guernsey have been added to the portfolio of destinations on live-streaming platform virtualtrips, allowing people from all over the world to ‘travel together’ on a guided tour of the islands.

03 February 2021

After hosting a sell-out debut virtual tour of her beloved home island, gold-accredited Guernsey guide, Gill Girard, will be leading further tours for virtual explorers to enjoy the breath-taking scenery from the comfort of their own homes, whilst we are still unable to visit Guernsey.*

The tours include: The Wild West Coast which explores the Lihou headland and its many layers of history, from a Neolithic passage grave, Napoleonic defences and German fortifications while enjoying the unspoilt coastal views and ‘Evacuation, Occupation, Liberation and Potato Peel Pie’, which discovers Guernsey’s Second World War history around the streets of capital St Peter Port.

Launching soon, the Walk in Victor Hugo's Footsteps tour will pass through the cobbled steps and alleyways to the heart of St Peter Port, whilst hearing about his life as a political exile and how the island inspired him to write some of his most famous works.

Each of the tours are ‘Tip-Supported’ allowing viewers to show their appreciation whilst also financially supporting the guide.

Gill’s informative but relaxed style easily translates into video and the escapism offered through the scenic views and rolling sea is a real tonic for those stuck inside and missing nature and the elements.

Virtualtrips features over 300 tours across 60 locations, from the canals of Venice and to exploring Yellowstone National Park, and then making it back in time to see Guernsey, all in the same day.

The tours can be booked directly https://www.virtualtrips.io/locations/guernsey subject to availability.
